Andreas Frehr says: The origin of the Danish part of "Frehr" is a small village in Nor-thern Jutland (still existing),called "Fraer" The origin of this name is a god from the Iron Age,called "Freyr" (god for rain and sunshine, for crop and yield). There may have been a "Vi" (holy place) for Freyr in this village. Our ancestors were not called Frehr, while living there, but in the 17th century they moved to southern Jutland. Officially (on birth certificate) they still had their original name, but were now always called Frehr because they spoke another dialect and named from the village they came from far away. In 1824 they took the name "Frehr" as their official,real name. Frehr is a rare name in Denmark (around 200 per-sons) We are all descen-ded from the (small far-mers) in the village Fraer in Nothern Jutland.
